Laurence Beere, co-owner of The Queensberry Hotel, a HotelREZ Hotels & Resorts partner hotel founded in Bath with his wife Helen, has been named in Boutique Hotelier’s Power List: ‘a celebration of individuals, responsible for leading, spearheading and encouraging in their own hotels up and down the country, who are intrinsic to the success of the sector.’
The list ‘pays tribute to the figureheads piloting some of the most prominent boutiques in the UK hotel market.’ The Queensberry Hotel and Olive Tree have faced and seen off the challenges of difficult conditions in the last few years, and Laurence’s boldness, leadership, creativity, persistence and willingness to invest have been key. Following 2015’s radical reshaping of The Olive Tree restaurant, the last year has seen equally dramatic and successful work undertaken throughout the hotel itself. This large-scale work has seen huge improvements to the hotel’s guest rooms as well as its public areas, from reception and drawing room to gardens and bar areas.
Typically, this work has been about more than improving the guest and diner experience, it’s also been about using trusting and believing in some of Bath’s best independent businesses. This desire for high quality and independence is entirely characteristic of the Beeres’ mindset. Since taking over the hotel in 2003 they have proudly pioneered an approach founded on personal service, high quality, attention to detail and a rare degree of creative flexibility.
